CNN.com: Korean Village Sparks Protest
My little "village" has made CNN headlines, to much suprise. They are expanding the local military base and I've witnessed more anti-American protests than any single, blonde, American living abroad should. I've only felt a genuine fear once though, as in "maybe I need to cover my head with my jacket so that people don't see I'm white" and "I don't think these windows will stand up against those rocks in their hands". Not fun. I feel bad for the people, but anything that could possibly expand the population enough to bring a Starbucks to the area...I support.
